From Monday, The Chattahoochee Tech Lady Eagles defeated Toccoa Falls College by a score of 75-48. The Lady Eagles are now 10-1 on the season.

Yesterday in local basketball, the Adairsville Tigers boy’s team beat North Murray by a score of 57-52 to improve to 3-3 on the season and 1-1 in region play. Hunter Hice led the Tigers with 16 points. The Cass boys team beat Paulding County by a score of 63-56 on Tuesday to improve to 4-1 on the season, 2-0 in region play and continue its three-game winning streak. Ashton Burley led the Colonels with 17 points. The Cass Lady Colonels also added a win with a 49-28 victory over Paulding County to improve to 3-2 on the season and 1-1 in region play. Cass’ defense was strong in the game as the Lady Colonels did not allow a free throw attempt until the second half and allowed just two field goals in the second quarter.The Excel Lady Eagles notched their third win of the season as they beat Mount Pisgah by a score of 38-22 on Tuesday night. Along with the balanced scoring, Excel’s defense was the story of the game. Mount Pisgah never scored more than six points in any quarter. The Adairsville Lady Tigers dropped their second region game of the season on Tuesday with a 61-34 loss to North Murray. North Murray got ahead early, in large part due to the free-throw disparity, something that has hurt Adairsville so far this season. The Woodland Lady Cats also struggled on Tuesday with a  63-13 loss to Carrollton, as the Lady Cats are now 0-3 on the season. An unrelenting Carrollton team scored 39 points in the second half, including 21 in the third quarter.

 

Behind a balanced scoring attack and a defense that forced 29 turnovers the No. 2 ranked Georgia Highlands Chargers defeated Lawson State 98-68 for the win. Lawson State keep the game close in the first half , with GHC leading 48-39 at the end of the first half. To open the second half, GHC went on a 12-0 run to pull away. GHC outscored Lawson State 50-29 in the second half.

The Georgia Highlands Lady Chargers fell to the Lady Cougars of Lawson State 66-60. The injury bug has hit the Lady Chargers hard in the past few weeks, losing three players for the year and two others sidelined for several weeks. GHC only had 7 players dressed for tonight’s game. GHC led at the end of the 1st period 23-21 and that was the last lead they would see. Lawson State pulled out to an 11 point lead at the half. GHC fought hard down the stretch with a 7-0 run late in the 4th period tying the game up at 60 with 1:12 left in regulation. GHC turned the ball over in their next two possessions and Lawson State sealed the win.
