Cartersville Country Club won the Georgia State Golf Association Team Championship at 22-under-par and a second team from Cartersville Country Club finished tied for fourth.

The winning foursome was made up of Chad Branton, Justin Johnson, Cameron Hooper and Kyle Hosick.

Hosick recorded a 65 in the final round to lead the charge for Cartersville Country Club’s victory. Branton fired a 68 and Hooper finished with a 72. Three of each team’s four individual scores counted on Sunday. The win also marks the club’s fourth title in six years as Cartersville CC won in 2011, 2012 and 2014.
The Cartersville Country Club #2 team, comprised of Chase Jones, Greg Johnson, Cres Dodd, Bill Faith, tied for fourth at 7-under-par.
The 24th edition of this event took place Saturday and Sunday, October 29-30.

Local athletes Emmanuel Jones of Woodland and Loren Harris of Adairsville made college news. Jones, a football player for the Wildcats, received an offer from Colorado State while Harris, a softball player for the Lady Tigers, committed to play ball at the university of North Georgia.
