Cartersville Middle School football coach Robert Allen has stepped down after eight years of coaching the team. Allen has now passed the torch of the middle school program to former Adairsville High assistant Brett Tolbert.

In softball on Wednesday, Hannah Todd of the Lady Canes threw her fourth no-hitter of the season, as Cartersville beat Darlington by a score of 8-0.

Today in softball Excel will travel to Darlington at 4:30 and Woodland begins in region tournament play, as it hosts Paulding County for a doubleheader with the first game starting at 5 PM.

Today in volleyball, Adairsville will travel with Rome and Murray County to Armuchee for matches that begin at 5 PM, Cass will travel to Pepperell at 5 PM and Cartersville will host Woodland and Pickens at 6 PM.

Tomorrow high school football returns to Bartow County with two local schools in action and both games starting at 7:30. Woodland will travel to Hiram and Cartersville will host Central Carroll.
