The Cass softball team lost 3-1 at East Paulding Thursday night.
East Paulding took a 3-0 lead with a run in the third inning and two more in the fourth. Cass scored a single unearned run in the top of the seventh.
Taylor Gibson tossed 2.2 shutout innings. Haley Owens tossed 3.1 innings allowed two earned runs and struck out four.
Cass is now 4-19 on the season and 0-11 in region play.
Cartersville volleyball split a pair of non-region matches Thursday evening in Tunnel Hill falling to host Northwest Whitfield, but defeating Calhoun.
The Lady Canes took Northwest to three sets by winning the middle set 25-10, but lost 25-21 in the opening set and 15-10 in the third.
In its second match of the night, Cartersville defeated Calhoun in two straight sets 25-22, 25-10.
Cartersville is now 21-3 on the season.
The Cass volleyball team picked up a pair of non-region, straight set wins Thursday night at Pepperell defeating the host Lady Dragons and Paulding County.
The Lady Colonels topped Pepperell 25-15 and 25-21. Cass then defeated Paulding County 25-11 and 25-13.
Cass is now 17-12 on the season and 1-3 in region play.
