On Thursday afternoon, a three-vehicle accident on State Route 113 at Riverside Drive in Cartersville injured many people, causing the summoning of Life Flight.

The Cartersville Police investigation states that a gray Ford F-250 Supercab was traveling east on State Route 113, a white GMC Yukon was going west on State Route 113, and a white Volkswagen Jetta was driving south on Riverside Drive at around 12:39. The Ford truck turned in front of the Yukon causing the SUV to strike it. The impact caused the SUV to hit the Jetta that was stopped at the stop sign, waiting to turn west.

Metro EMS took the 22-year-old male driver of the truck to Floyd Medical Center for hip pain.

The crash ejected an 18-year-old male passenger in the front seat and a 24-year-old male passenger in the rear middle seat in the Yukon who were not wearing seat belts. Air life flew the 18-year-old to Kennestone Hospital with head injuries. Metro Atlanta took the 24-year-old to Floyd Medical Center with severe head injuries.

Metro also took the driver and two other occupants from the Yukon to hospitals for treatment of minor injuries.

The driver of the Jetta complained of neck pain but did not go to a hospital.
