ATLANTA – The Georgia Department of Labor will assist The VETS Group and several other organizations at the Leave No Veteran Behind Employment and Small Business Expo, Monday, Sept. 14, in Atlanta.

The expo will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Georgia International Convention Center located at 2000 Convention Center Concourse. While the event will focus on the employment needs of military veterans and their families, it is open to all job seekers and small business owners.

Attendees will be able to interview for jobs with participating employers, while small business owners can discuss opportunities for contracts with participating government agencies.

Event sponsors include: Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, Paradies, Avis Budget Group and other veterans service organizations.

Employers expected to participate include the City of Atlanta, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Clayton County Water Authority, Delta, Department of the Army Office of Small Business Programs, Department of the Navy Office of Small Business Programs, U.S. Department of Transportation, U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs, U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs Small Business Programs, U.S. Department of Labor, Federal Emergency Management Agency, Georgia Department of Public Safety, Georgia State Patrol, U.S. General Services Administration, ITT Tech, MARTA, National Contract Management Association, Procurement Technical Assistance Center, Standard Technology, Transportation Security Administration, U.S. Department of Agriculture, Veteran Business Outreach Center and Wal-Mart.

Among the open positions to be filled are: building inspectors (both residential and commercial), construction maintenance workers, contract specialist, data architect, senior data modeler, engineering technician, environmental sciences, engineering associate, fire fighters, health sciences associates, heavy equipment operators, junior/senior IT specialist, laboratory and medical specialist, maintenance engineer, manufacturing engineers, project manager, purchasing manager, real estate specialist, security network engineer, senior business analyst, senior network developer, trade compliance specialist and water treatment specialist.

GDOL will have veteran employment representatives and other staff members on hand to help jobseekers.
