The Georgia Department of Labor (GDOL) and Must Ministries will provide group and individual assistance to job seekers in Cartersville on Saturday, September 27, designed to help them be successful in their search for employment.

The GDOL Job Readiness Event will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Bartow College and Career Academy, 738 Grassdale Road. The event will be co-sponsored by Must Ministries, Bartow College and Career Academy, Clarence Brown Conference Center, Chattahoochee Technical College, and Georgia Highlands College.

The department’s Special Workforce Assistance Team (SWAT) and Must Ministries will conduct a number of workshops, including “Dress for Job Success,” “Interviewing Skills,” “Creating A Value-Based Resume,” “What A Can-Do Attitude Can Do,” “Coaching Sessions” and “Impressions and Etiquette.”

Attendees will also receive hands-on assistance in developing their own social media pages, creating personal business cards for their job search, and developing their own 30-second “commercial” to market themselves for new career opportunities. They will also have the opportunity to have their résumé critiqued by professional résumé writers. A select number of participants will also receive a voucher for an outfit to wear for job interviews.

Those attending the Job Readiness Event will receive a ticket for early admission to an upcoming career expo and the first chance to meet with potential employers before the doors open to the general public. The career expo will be held Thursday, Oct. 2, from 1-4 p.m.

Participants should bring a copy of their resume, paper and pen or pencil.
