At 7:40AM, Christa Gilmore, with NW GA Public Health was recently recognized with a Trendsetter Award given annually by the department and the Georgia Network to End Sexual Assault. Gilmore was recognized for her efforts to implement and promote the “Step Up, Step In” campaign at Woodland High School and South Central Middle School, both in Bartow County. “Step Up, Step In” is a collaborative movement that engages schools and communities to identify and stop sexual bullying from occurring between youth by teaching adolescents, and those who influence them, about healthy interactions, healthy friendships, and healthy relationships. We’ll talk with her about the many roles she plays in trying to mentor and guide youth toward healthy life choices.
