GSP was called to investigate a motorcycle crash Saturday night around 10:25 on Georgia Highway 293 near Firetower Road in Bartow County. The crash resulted in one fatality.
The person killed is identified as Michael William Lynch, age 28, from Cartersville.
At the time of the crash, he was fleeing from a Bartow County deputy. The deputy stated he lost visual contact with the motorcycle on GA 293. Around a sharp curve on 293, he noticed debris in the road. He stopped, turned around, and found the motorcycle and driver on the shoulder of GA 293 where the motorcycle had crashed. The driver was ejected.
GSP was not involved in the pursuit.
