ADAIRSVILLE, GA – March 2018 – Georgia’s award-winning Barnsley Resort has debuted the Inn at Barnsley Resort and all new Georgian Hall, adding 55 new rooms and more than 9,000 square feet of indoor space to meet the increasing demand from the group, meeting and wedding segments.
The expansion has brought Barnsley Resort’s total room count to 150, offering the added convenience of having all group attendees within the same building, while expanding opportunities to host larger groups with its impressive 16,000 sq. ft. of indoor event space.
The Atlanta-based Cooper Carry firm was contracted as the architect for the Inn at Barnsley Resort, Georgian Hall and landscape design, while Atlanta’s Kent Interior Design was tapped for conceptualizing and implementing the rural and timeless interior design.
Inn at Barnsley Resort
The Inn at Barnsley Resort is inspired by Andrew Downing’s Italianate and gothic revival style and the works of noted British architect Edwin Lutyens, known for his English country homes from the turn of the 20th century. Designed to complement the resort’s existing English-inspired village and merge into its relaxed Southern resort setting, the new building welcomes guests at registration with an expansive Living Room gathering area that features a grand staircase and fireplace as focal points.
Adding a total of 55 guestrooms and suites, the Inn offers spacious king and double queen rooms ranging from 378 to 528 square feet, with unique features such as dormer windows, hand-scraped wood floors with a mahogany finish, exposed beams and sloped ceilings. Bathrooms feature gorgeous quartzite countertops, double sinks and oversized showers with oil rubbed bronze fixtures. Among the new rooms is a one-bedroom Executive Suite as well as the Queen’s Suite, which features a large living area with a dining room, butler-kitchen, powder room, and an expansive terrace that overlooks the resort grounds.
Georgian Hall
Georgian Hall brings new indoor and outdoor space to host corporate meetings, weddings and other special events in a picture-perfect location. It sits adjacent to and is built to complement the existing Rice House restaurant, located within a 19th century farmhouse. The Savannah Ballroom offers 4,700 square feet of space and can accommodate up to 500 guests in a theater set-up and 380 seated banquet-style. The design features soaring vaulted ceilings with exposed rafters, stained hand-scraped scissor trusses, painted millwork, dormer windows, and a grand floor-to-ceiling fireplace. Additionally, the room flows out on to the Savannah Terrace, which offers outdoor space for up to 215 guests. The Georgian Veranda, an expansive southern style porch, extends the entire length of Georgian Hall, with numerous double doors that fully swing open, offering a covered outdoor space for receptions and gatherings that seamlessly blends the interior with the exterior. Additional meeting and event spaces include the Dalton Room, Estate Lawn, equipped with full lighting and sound capabilities, and outdoor porches and terraces charmingly detailed with wood columns, beams and ceilings, stone flooring, and expansive views of the meadows and the 19th century Manor House Ruins.
