The National Weather Service issued a freeze warning for north and much of central Georgia, including Bartow County, from midnight to ten a.m.

The NWS expects the area to experience sub-freezing temperatures from the mid-20s to the lower 30s. Gusty winds, especially before sunrise, will make it feel even colder.

Frost and freeze conditions will kill crops and other sensitive vegetation and possibly damage unprotected outdoor plumbing.

The NWS asks folks to protect tender plants from the cold. To prevent freezing and possible bursting of outdoor water pipes, people should wrap, drain, or allow them to drip slowly. Those with in-ground sprinkler systems should drain them and cover above-ground pipes to protect them from freezing.
