A Florida man is jailed in Bartow on numerous counts of forgery of a financial card. Just before noon Tuesday, Cartersville police officers were called to the Ingles Gas Station on West Avenue. According to the report, 36-year-old, Jorge Antonio Fernandez Reyes of Miami, Florida was sitting in his Ram Truck at the fuel pump and actively filling an auxiliary fuel tank mounted in the bed of his truck.
An Ingles employee called 911 and reported a theft in progress. Police were told that Fernandez Reyes attempted to pay with an empty gift card. Fernandez-Reyes was asked to step from his truck. He said he paid for the fuel with a gift card and presented two Walmart gift cards. During a search of the vehicle police found a stack of debit cards with an assortment of names not belonging to Fernandez-Reyes. They also found a notepad that appeared to be a transaction log.
The report states that due to a language barrier, Fernandez Reyes was unable to explain why he had these items. He was transported to the Bartow County jail and charged with 15 counts of felony forgery of a financial card. Bond was set at $75,000.
