Local firefighters responded to a kitchen fire on Otting Drive on Wednesday. According to a press release, the call came in for 11 Otting Drive at approximately 6:34 p.m. The fire, which started in the kitchen, was deemed accidental. Crews arrived to find heavy smoke showing. The fire was under control within 15 minutes of trucks arriving on the scene. The Red Cross was called in to assist the residents. Nearby residents were evacuated but were later able to return to their homes. Units from both the city and county worked this fire. There were no injuries reported.
Earlier in the day, Bartow firefighters were called to Allatoona Gateway for a camper fire. The call for 5983 Allatoona Gateway SE in Acworth came in at approximately 10:55 a.m. Crews arrived on the scene to find a camper with heavy fire showing. The camper was a total loss, and there were no injuries reported.
