The Cartersville Purple Hurricanes beat the Burke County Bears by a score of 35-14 on Friday night to advance to the third round of the GHSA Class 4-A playoffs against Woodward Academy, a game that many circled on their playoff brackets. With the anticipated match-up comes a problem with parking. WBHF spoke to Darrell Demastus, athletic director at Cartersville High School, who said the parking in College Park is bad. He stated that to get to the stadium, you have to park in a shopping mall and take a shuttle to the field. While the wait for a shuttle is usually just three or four minutes, Demastus is looking for a way to alleviate some of the parking issues.

The athletic director is trying to get a fan bus to carry people to the stadium. He already has a driver for one and is looking for a second driver, should enough people sign up. In order to go ahead with the bus to College Park, he needs at least 50 people to sign up for the fan bus, which would be a school bus.

You can sign up for the bus at the same time you purchase tickets, which will be Tuesday from 8 AM to 4 PM at Cartersville High School. Demastus said you can say you want to ride the bus and leave your phone number. If they don’t get 50 people to register, Demastus will call everyone who left a number to tell them that they will not carry a fan bus. The fan bus would be free.

Anyone under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. The athletic director stated that there is not a way to get forms out for parents to fill out in such a short amount of time without school.
