CARTERSVILLE, Ga. – The Georgia Department of Transportation (DOT) is advising motorists in Bartow County of a single lane closure on Red Top Mountain Connector, scheduled for Tuesday, February 3, 2015, to accommodate filming a movie by Caregiving Productions, Inc.

The eastbbund outside lane and shoulder of Red Top Mountain Road between Old Alabama Road and Joe Frank Harris Parkway will be closed for a few hours on Tuesday, February 3, 2015 to allow for a filming operation.  This filming operation and the lane closure it necessitate are weather permitting and subject to change.

Since the introduction of the 2008 Georgia Entertainment Industry Investment Act, Georgia has been the set for hundreds of films, commercials, photo shoots, music videos, television shows and series. The state’s diverse demographics, geography, moderate climate, production resources, and financial incentives have made it a desirable location for many producers.

Georgia is one of the top 5 production destinations in the country. The direct economic benefits of film production in the state came to over $3 billion in 2013. In addition to providing over 30,000 jobs, the movie and TV industry positively impacted thousands of businesses, from hotels, restaurants, grocery stores and rental car companies to hardware stores, lumber yards, garden nurseries, heavy equipment rentals and office supply companies.  Through the gained production popularity, Georgia Film and Television industry has become as or more important to the economy than many traditional industries. If the film and TV industry were to be a single company, it would rank as one of the top 10 employers in the state.
