EUHARLEE, GA. – The City of Euharlee Police Department responded to a serious injury vehicle crash on January 31, 2021, at approximately 5:04 P.M. involving two vehicles. The vehicle crash occurred on Euharlee Road, in between Friendship Road and Woodland Middle School, within the city limits of Euharlee.

 

Bartow County 911 received calls from concerned motorists, reporting a White SUV, driving erratic and failing to maintain its lane of travel. That vehicle was identified as a Subaru Forester, driven by Zachary Clifton Oakes (19) of Euharlee. Witnesses told investigating officers that the Subaru was traveling Westbound on Euharlee Road, when it suddenly swerved into the Eastbound lane of travel and struck a Mitsubishi Outlander head-on. The Mitsubishi was driven by Dan Bennett (52), also of Euharlee.

 

There were no passengers in either vehicle. Zachary Clifton Oakes became entrapped within the vehicle and was extricated by emergency responders. Mr. Oakes was transported by ambulance to an area hospital with serious injuries, where he still remains. Dan Bennett was also transported by ambulance to an area hospital, where he was treated for non-life-threatening injuries and later released.

 

The accident is still under investigation by the Euharlee Police Department and no formal charges have been established at this time. Anyone with information related to the accident is asked to contact Officer A. Page at apage@euharlee.com
