EUHARLEE, Ga. — (from WSBTV.COM)

ShootingAn officer-involved shooting in Bartow County is being investigated by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation in Euharlee.

The investigation into exactly what happened in the Crabtree mobile home park on Euharlee Road Friday night is just beginning.

Channel 2’s Liz Artz was there as the GBI arrived at the scene. Artz did confirm that a 17-year-old boy was fatally shot one time in the chest by law enforcement.

“He was graduating high school, gotten accepted into the Marines,” neighbor Richard Helms told Artz.

Helms said he was stunned to come home to the scene outside his front door. He told us he knew the teenager who frequently played video games with his nephew.

“I knew him. He was a good little boy,” said Helms.

The teen was transported to Cartersville, where he was pronounced dead. Neighbors still can’t imagine what transpired between the officer and the 17-year-old.

“He was scared. He had his BB gun,” Helms said.

The GBI will likely release more details today. It is likely that police were serving a warrant.
