At 5:16 AM, a clerk from the Pilot off Exit 296 on Cass-White Road called law enforcement to report that a driver’s truck had been stolen. The vehicle was a pharmaceutical truck and had GPS tracking. After activating the GPS, Georgia State Patrol located the truck and driver and followed a short pursuit. The driver fled from the vehicle at Northpoint Parkway and North Drive in Bartow County. The trailer was recovered with all contents still inside, but the oddity was that the truck had been switched in Cartersville. According to BCSO Sergeant Jonathan Rogers, whoever stole the truck took the stolen truck off and attached a different truck to the trailer. They are still working to identify the second truck that had been recovered. A similar situation occurred about a year ago and Rogers said they are looking to see if the two events correlate with each other. Anyone with information on this case is asked to call the BCSO criminal investigations division at 770-382-5050.
