Bartow County deputies responded to a drive-by shooting at Red Barn Grocery between Cassville Road and Joe Frank Harris Parkway northwest of Cartersville on Thursday afternoon at around 1:30 and later arrested a suspect.
A suspect driving a black Nissan Altima reportedly fired shots and hit a black Honda Insight. Deputies saw a visible bullet hole in the driver’s side door, a shattered rear passenger side window, and another bullet hole in the front passenger door.
The victim said 42-year-old Bobby Joe Cunningham of Adairsville did the shooting. The victim reportedly said that Cunningham and his current wife are separated, and the victim had been talking to her. He stated that Cunningham had been threatening him because of this.
The clerk inside the store stated that he was working the counter and, all of a sudden, heard several gunshots. He said he looked out the window and saw a beat-up black Nissan Altima.
Deputies went to Bobby Cunningham’s residence on Sparks Street in Adairsville. They arrested him there that day for aggravated assault, criminal damage to property in the second degree, reckless conduct, discharge of a weapon near a public street, possession of a firearm during the commission of certain crimes, and stalking. He posted a 15,000 bond on Saturday night.
Bobby Cunningham also faces charges from a separate incident from May 11th, 2022, for criminal damage to property in the second degree and criminal attempt to commit a felony.
