Full day event of bluegrass and folk music, and a kids’ corner
CARTERSVILLE, GA – Cartersville Downtown Development Authority and Main Street Program are finalizing plans for the second annual Cartersville Bluegrass & Folk Festival, scheduled for Saturday, October 18, in downtown Cartersville. This all-day festival will feature two stages of entertainment including bluegrass and folk music, as well as a kids’ area, complete with various games and activities. Held from 11 AM to 9 PM, the event is open to the public and free of charge.
Musical entertainment will consist of 13 bands on two stages. Entertainment will begin at 11:30 AM on the Main Stage, which will be located in Friendship Plaza next to the Train Depot. Entertainment will begin at 12 PM at the Firehouse Stage, sponsored by Cohutta Fishing Company, which will be in the bay of the old fire station next to City Hall. Both stages will feature a mix of bluegrass and folk bands, with a new band performing in one hour increments until the headliners perform.
While many local and regional performers will provide musical entertainment throughout the afternoon, Cartersville Main Street is excited to have two great headliners for this years’ event. The Little Roy and Lizzy Show will be the Main Stage Headliner, beginning their performance at 5:30 PM. Little Roy, of the legendary Lewis Family, has won numerous awards as Entertainer and for his banjo playing. Lizzy Long has also been recognized for her strong vocals and fiddle playing. Headlining the Firehouse Stage at 7:00 PM is Rolling Nowhere, who has been described as a Psychedelic Junkyard Roots band. Their sound combines Classic Country, Old Timey Folk, Blues Roots and Psychedelic Rock n Roll. Check out the complete lineup, as well as bios of all the bands, at www.cartersvillebluegrass.com and be on the lookout for posters, t-shirts, event program guides and other marketing material provided by Lara J Designs.
The Kids’ Corner, sponsored by Coosa Valley Credit Union, will be held in the parking lot next to the fountain in downtown Cartersville from 12-5 PM. The Kids’ Corner will feature a variety of crafts, activities and games for children to enjoy. For children 12 and under, there will
be an opportunity to design their own train conductor hat, attempt to catch a fish, have their face painted, work off some energy in a bounce house, or leave their mark painting a wooden train. A People’s Choice Coloring Contest will also be held, and fun prizes will be awarded to the winners.
Cartersville Bluegrass & Folk Festival would not be possible without the financial contributions of all our sponsors. We would like to give a special thank you to Cohutta Fishing Company, Coosa Valley Credit Union, Lara J Designs, Johnny on the Spot, Fusion Dance Company, Georgia Highlands Medical Services, Bartow History Museum, and Hotel Meeting Match, LLC. Sponsorships for the event are still available.
