A suspect was named in a shooting near a service station Thursday in Bartow County.  According to a press release from the Bartow County Sheriff’s office, on Thursday, October 12, 2023, at approximately 4:35 p.m., Uniform Patrol and K9 Deputies observed a 2010 Honda Civic on Hwy 411 near the Interstate 75 interchange, which was possibly occupied by a Geoffry Frank Walker, 30, of Rome.  Walker was wanted for an outstanding warrant through Bartow County following a family violence incident that had occurred on Wednesday, October 11, 2023, at the Cartersville Walmart located at 101 Market Place Blvd in Cartersville. Walker also had additional warrants for another family violence and obstruction incident in Floyd County earlier in the day.

A vehicle pursuit ensued with the Honda Civic, and Walker eventually fled on foot from deputies. Deputy K9 Athos was released by his handler to assist in the apprehension. Multiple shots were heard, and K9 Athos was found injured.  K9 Athos was transported to a nearby Animal Hospital, where he was treated for his injury.

Multi-Agency Law Enforcement assistance was provided, and a perimeter was established in an attempt to locate and apprehend Walker, but following a diligent search he was not located. Walker is described a 6’ 4”, 180 lbs., black male, with short spiked gold bleached hair, last seen wearing gold/khaki pants, white shirt, and a black and grey jacket.  Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Geoffrey Frank Walker is asked to contact the Bartow County Sheriff’s Office at 770-382-5050 or Dial 911.
