According to the Georgia State Patrol, 36-year-old Esbalm Abdelkerim of Dalton died in a crash on Interstate 75 in Bartow County late Thursday night, June 18, 2026.
Troopers were dispatched at 11:49 p.m. to a two-vehicle crash on northbound I-75, about two miles south of Exit 306.
The preliminary investigation found that a white Dodge Ram 5500 was stopped on the left shoulder while assisting a motorist. The Dodge Ram then attempted to back up and entered the left northbound lane.
A brown Toyota Camry traveling north in the left lane struck the rear of the Dodge Ram. The impact ejected the Camry’s driver, Esbalm Abdelkerim, from the vehicle.
Abdelkerim died from injuries sustained in the crash.
As a result of the accident, all northbound lanes of I-75 were closed at 11:53 p.m. The roadway remained shut down for approximately three hours before reopening.
