The Bartow County Sheriff’s Office has issued a warning to persons who dress as clowns for the purpose of criminal mischief.

Just as in other parts of the state, Bartow County residents have recently spotted persons dressed as clowns in different areas after dark. According to Sheriff Clark Millsap, a Lusk Avenue resident called 911 requesting law enforcement response after hearing her back door being shaken. When she looked outside she saw two persons wearing clown clothes and makeup – one with a wig and red nose and the other with a jester hat. Deputies responded and did not locate anyone dressed as a clown in the area. The resident told deputies that her neighbors had told her that they had seen two clowns around the area as well.

Sheriff Millsap states that persons involved in this type of behavior could face charges if caught committing acts of criminal trespass, disorderly conduct, or loitering and prowling. Anyone who sees suspicious activities such as these is asked to call the 911 center.
