The Cass Colonels dominated on both offense and defense to beat the Adairsville Tigers 49-0 Friday night.

Cass received the opening kickoff and came out aggressively, attempting a 4th and five but failing to convert. This gave Adairsville unexpectedly good field position. However, the Tigers couldn’t capitalize on the opportunity, and Cass defender Ian Williams intercepted Ethan Long to regain possession for the Colonels.

Although Cass couldn’t score on its first drive, the Colonels found their rhythm on the next one. They drove down the field and Jachai Delgado finished the drive with a 3-yard rushing touchdown, putting them ahead 7-0 with 4:38 remaining in the first quarter.

Entering the second quarter, both defenses tightened up, leading to a series of punts. But Cass broke through again when Braylon Hill scored a 13-yard rushing touchdown, extending their lead to 14-0 with 7:36 left in the second quarter.

Adairsville attempted to respond, but Cass blocked a punt and recovered the ball inside the Tigers’ 5-yard line. On the next play,  Delgado scored another touchdown. After a missed PAT, Cass led 20-0 late in the second quarter.

The Colonels weren’t finished yet; Mason Madrid kicked a 23-yard field goal as the first half expired, giving Cass a commanding 23-0 lead at halftime.

Cass’s defense continued to dominate early in the second half, with Tay McKibben returning an interception 20 yards for a touchdown, extending the lead to 29-0. A bad snap caused a missed PAT, preventing a running clock.

Midway through the third quarter, Brodie McWhorter connected with Nazaire Fleurine for a 27-yard touchdown pass, increasing the lead to 35-0. McWhorter struck again a few drives later, finding Chase Tatum for a 16-yard touchdown pass, pushing the score to 42-0. Another missed PAT kept the score the same going into the fourth quarter.

In the final quarter, McWhorter added a 1-yard rushing touchdown, sealing the game with a 49-0 lead with about eight minutes left. Cass maintained this lead to secure a decisive home victory.
