Investigators from the Cobb County Police Department’s Crimes Against Persons Unit are investigating an apparent homicide, which occurred near 2626 George Busbee Parkway in Kennesaw, Georgia.

 According to detectives, the Cobb County Emergency Communications Center dispatched uniform officers to the area of the Red Lobster after receiving a 9-1-1 call about a person having been shot.  When uniform officers arrived, they located a male in the roadway with an apparent gunshot wound. 

 The victim has been identified as 23 year old Zakeem Berry of Kennesaw, Georgia.  He was transported by ambulance to Wellstar Kennestone Hospital where he died as a result of a gunshot wound.

 The suspect in this case has been identified as 23 year old Richard Holcomb of Rydal, Georgia.  The suspect was later located at the Kroger at 3895 Cherokee Street in Acworth, Georgia with an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.  He was transported by ambulance to Wellstar Kennestone Hospital where he is being treated for his injury.   The suspect in this case died as a result of the self-inflicted gunshot wound.
