CARTERSVILLE, GA – City Manager, Dan Porta, recommends Freddy Morgan, for the Assistant
City Manager position for the City of Cartersville. Mr. Morgan is a dedicated public servant that has
worked in local government for over thirty-one years. He has served as a Supervisor, Superintendent,
Director, and Assistant City Manager at three municipalities, with his most recent position as the
Assistant City Manager for the City of Covington, Georgia. He is well versed in the functions of local
government and its focus on delivering quality service to its constituents. Mr. Morgan is an African-
American male, who is a Cartersville native that was born and raised in the Summer Hill community
and a graduate of Cartersville High School. He has a BAS from Southern Polytechnic University and
an MBA from Shorter University, as well as various government-related certifications. He is a
married father of two children and has one grandchild.

The City Council will vote on Mr. Porta’s recommendation at the May 20, 2021, City Council
meeting.
