The Cass Colonels lost to the Dalton Catamounts by a score of 38-13 on Friday, October 13.
Cass received the opening kickoff, and the Colonels made the most of their opening drive as
Brodie McWhorter launched a 51-yard touchdown pass to Sacovie White to put Cass ahead 7-0
early in the first quarter. The rest of the first quarter was fairly quiet until Dalton had a quick
three-play drive late in the first quarter, which ended with a 13-yard touchdown run to make the
score 7-7 going into the second quarter.

After a competitive first quarter, the second quarter would be all Dalton. The Catamounts started
the quarter by scoring an 11-yard rushing touchdown to go ahead 14-7. They then completed a
30-yard touchdown pass to take a 21-7 lead going into halftime.

Although Cass was facing a double-digit deficit at the half, the game was definitely still in reach
for the Colonels. Unfortunately, things wouldn’t stay that way as Dalton would take control in the
second half.

Dalton began the third quarter with a bang, scoring its fourth consecutive touchdown to make
the score 28-7. Shortly afterward, Dalton grabbed an interception and regained possession with
a chance to go up by four touchdowns. The Catamounts did just that, scoring another rushing
touchdown to go up 35-7 late in the third quarter.

Cass wouldn’t remain quiet for the entire second half, though, as Brodie McWhorter threw his
second touchdown pass of the game to make the score 35-13 early in the third quarter.
Unfortunately, Cass missed the PAT, so the score remained 35-13.

The fourth quarter was pretty quiet, but Dalton did kick a 41-yard field goal to make the score
38-13, which would be the final score.

With this loss, Cass is now 4-4 on the season and 1-2 in its region. The Colonels will face the
Hiram Hornets on the road next week, and you can listen to that game on Bartow Sports Zone.
