The Cass Colonels (2-2) got back into the win column Friday night with a 20-7 win over Temple.

The Colonel offense started off slow by punting on its opening drive and fumbling the snap on its second drive. But after a blocked field goal by the special teams unit, the Cass offense found some momentum in the second quarter. Devin Henderson tossed a 20-yard touchdown pass to Kevin Henderson to give the Colonels a 6-0 lead with 7:06 left in the first half.

A 22-yard reception by Sacovie White on 3rd down kept the Colonel offense on the field, which led to the touchdown drive. On the following drive, Devin Henderson scored on a 10-yard rush to extend the Colonel lead 13-0. The Colonels gained 148 yards on 15 plays on their two touchdown drives.

Cass took a 13-0 lead into the third quarter, where both defenses stymied the offenses for 12 minutes as there was not any scoring.

Cass found the end zone in the fourth quarter as Henderson rushed for his second rushing touchdown of the game with a 15-yard scamper to give the Colonels a 20-0 lead. Temple scored on a 46-yard touchdown pass from Cam Vaughn to Carter Kittrell, but the damaged appeared to have been done.

Cass will host Ridgeland next Friday at 7:30 at Doug Cochran Stadium. You can hear the game on bartowsportszone.com
