In a commanding display of offensive firepower, the Cass Colonels (6-1, 3-0) overwhelmed the Woodland Wildcats (0-5, 0-2), securing a decisive 55-9 victory in a high school football clash that showcased Cass’s depth and explosiveness.

The game kicked off with Cass setting the tone early. On their opening drive, the Colonels marched 75 yards over 18 plays, capped by a 9-yard touchdown run from Jeremy Barrett, signaling their intent to control the ground game. Woodland struggled to respond, punting after a stalled possession. Cass capitalized again, with Kalil Charles breaking free for an 11-yard touchdown run to finish a 9-play, 52-yard drive, further asserting their dominance.

The Wildcats’ woes continued as they punted once more, unable to find rhythm against Cass’s stifling defense. Charles then electrified the crowd with a 60-yard touchdown run, showcasing his breakaway speed and pushing the lead to 21-0. Woodland’s troubles compounded when a muffed kickoff return handed Cass prime field position at the Wildcats’ 12-yard line. Quarterback Brodie McWhorter wasted no time, connecting with Chase Tatum for a 12-yard touchdown pass, piling on to Woodland’s misery. Cass’s relentless attack showed no signs of slowing. A 12-play, 50-yard drive ended with a 30-yard field goal by Justin Abarca, maintaining their momentum. The special teams unit added to the onslaught when Kalel Charles fielded a kickoff and blazed 90 yards for a touchdown, leaving Woodland reeling. Just before halftime, McWhorter found Elijah Slocum for a 27-yard touchdown pass, though a missed PAT kept the score at 41-3 as the teams headed to the locker rooms.

The second half saw more of the same. Kalil Charles struck again with a 37-yard touchdown run, pushing Cass’s lead to 48-3 by the end of the third quarter.

Woodland finally found the end zone early in the fourth, with Solomon James breaking free for a 68-yard touchdown run, but a missed PAT left them trailing 48-9. Any hopes of a Wildcat comeback were quickly dashed when Cass quarterback Noah Rogers aired out a 55-yard touchdown pass to Raymond Woodard, sealing the 55-9 final score. Cass’s balanced attack, led by Kalil Charles’s multi-touchdown performance and McWhorter’s precision passing, overwhelmed Woodland at every turn.
