The Cass Colonels couldn’t overcome a 20-0 deficit in Friday’s game against Hiram as the Colonels fell to Hiram 34-21.

The Colonels were able to score just before the half on a 2-yard scamper to make the score 20-7, but Hiram marched down the field and took a 27-7 lead into the half. On the opening drive of the third quarter, Cass chewed up time and yardage en route to a 4-yard touchdown run from Malik Grimes to make it a 27-14 game with a quarter to play.

Hiram would score on a 65-yard touchdown run on that next drive to put the game out of reach for the Colonels, who would score once more on a 9-yard touchdown run by Zay Jackson. Unfortunately for Cass, the game was effectively out of reach late in the fourth quarter.

Cass drops to 1-7 on the season and 0-5 in region play. The Colonels will be back at home next week searching for their first region win of the year against East Paulding.
