The Cartersville Purple Hurricanes (1-0) defeated the Cherokee Warriors (0-1) 35-0.
The Canes scored in the first when Paul Gamble connected with Collin Fletcher midway through the first quarter. Jaylen Scott caught another Gamble pass in the second quarter to extend the Cartersville lead to 14-0.
Malachi Jeffries scored two first-half touchdowns for Cartersville, while Fletcher hauled in an interception for the Canes’ secondary in the first half. Romo Pace caught a 46-yard touchdown pass from Gamble in the third quarter. If the first game is any indication, Cartersville will have no shortage of offensive options in 2022.
The Canes defense stymied the Warriors attack as they were shutout.
