The Cartersville City Schools Board of Education met for a Combined Work Session/Board Meeting on December 9, 2019.

Presentation of the Colors and Pledge of Allegiance was presented by CHS JROTC students.

Character Word of the Month:  CARING – Treating others with kindness, compassion, generosity, courtesy, and a forgiving spirit.

Business Items:

The System Financial and Utility Cost and Usage reports were presented and approved.

CHS Campus Wiring Bid: The Board approved G & A Contracting, Blairsville, GA., bid as specified, at the cost of $215,355.05, for the Cartersville High School campus wiring.

Architect Proposal:  The Board approved Robertson Loia Roof (RLR), Alpharetta, Georgia, for the architect of record.

Consent Items:

November 11, 2019 Board Minutes were approved.

The Board approved Dr. Marc Feuerbach to attend the Schlechty Center School Board Conference in Austin, Texas, January 3-4, 2020.  As sponsored participants, PAGE will cover the cost of conference registration, airfare, and hotel accommodations. 

One Disciplinary Tribunal and several Surplus items were approved.

The Finance Committee’s recommendation to accept the 2019 Comprehensive Annual Financial Report and the Performance Audit on Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax report as prepared by Mauldin & Jenkins CPA was approved.

The following personnel recommendations were approved:

Resignations:

-Tammy Childers, CMS Teacher, retirement, with regret, effective January 1, 2020.

-Kim Nelson, CHS Clerk, effective December 21, 2019.

Certified Personnel:

-River Brannon, CMS Teacher, effective January 6, 2020

Termination:

-Tania James, Bus Driver, effective December 10, 2019

Classified Personnel:

-Ellen Worley, Bus Driver, effective January 7, 2020
