Corporal Justin Lusian has dedicated the last 19 years providing quality service to the citizens of Cartersville. But on July 17th 2018, he changed the lives of two-vehicle crash victims in Floyd County. While off duty, Corporal Lusian observed a burning vehicle crash with multiple occupants trapped inside. Before first responders arrived on scene, Corporal Lusian was able to pull two victims from inside the engulfed pick-up truck to safety. In a commendation letter received from Floyd County Police Department, Sergeant R. Williams stated, “Corporal Lusian’s disregard for his own safety surely preserved the lives of the two passengers in the vehicle.” On August 2nd of this year, Chief Frank McCann, Deputy Chief Jason DiPrima and Major Terry Ellis presented Corporal Lusian with the “Life Saving Award” for his courageous actions. For those who know Corporal Lusian, this act was not out of character in the slightest for, as he is one of the most skilled and experienced police officers any department could ask for. The Cartersville Police Department family pray for the speedy recovery of those involved in this terrible crash.
