On April 2nd, at about 1:11 a.m., Cartersville Police went to Knights Inn on East Church Street across from Liberty Drive for a verbal argument that turned into a stabbing.
The reported victim said that the suspect accused him of tapping his window and knocking at his door, and then he stabbed him. A deputy stated that the man had a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage but did have an open wound below his belly button. The alleged victim reportedly had an extended large folding knife inside his pant’s rear pocket.
The suspect, 44-year-old Ryan Handel Lowe of Birmingham, Alabama, stated that after politely asking the alleged victim to stop banging on his windows and door, the man ripped his shirt and held a knife. Lowe said that he locked himself back inside his room and called 911.
Security footage reportedly shows an argument with the victim acting tumultuously towards Lowe shoving and punching him. At one point, the victim held a blunt object while standing directly in front of Lowe in a fighting stance, and Lowe entered his motel room with the victim throwing a punch at the door. A short time later, Lowe reemerged from his motel room, went to the rear driver’s door of a Honda Fit, grabbed a black carrying case, removed two Katana-style knives, approached the victim in front of a room, and stabbed him in his stomach, causing the open wound and went back inside his room with the knives.
Police reportedly found the knives under a bed and that the Honda Fit belonged to Lowe. Metro EMS took the victim to Piedmont Cartersville Medical Center for medical treatment for the open wound.
Cartersville Police arrested Ryan Lowe for aggravated assault and possession of a knife during the commission of certain crimes.
