A Cartersville man was taken by ambulance to a metro hospital after cutting himself just after lunch at the Bartow County Courthouse.
According to Sheriff Clark Millsap, just after 12:40PM today, 41 year old Jamie Lamar Green, of Cartersville, walked in the main courthouse entrance and prior to walking through the security checkpoint pulled out a knife and cut his own neck. Bartow County Sheriff’s Office deputies manning the security checkpoint immediately challenged Green and ultimately shot him once with a Taser before taking control of him. He sustained a serious injury to his neck and was taken by ambulance to a metro area hospital for treatment and evaluation. Green was at the courthouse to answer to court hearings on a May 30, 2012 arrest in Bartow County for Aggravated Child Molestation, Child Molestation, and Enticing a Child for Indecent Purposes. No one other than Green was injured during the incident. The courthouse remained operational and entrance foot traffic was temporarily re-routed while this incident was investigated.
