The Cartersville Fire Department (CFD) has officially received its Medical First Responder (MFR) Service License from the Georgia Department of Public Health, Office of EMS and Trauma, marking a significant milestone in the department’s ability to deliver advanced emergency medical care.
This license recognizes the Cartersville Fire Department as an authorized EMS agency and allows its firefighters to operate under expanded medical protocols. With this designation, CFD firefighters can provide advanced prehospital care on scene and deliver the same level of critical interventions as a transporting ambulance prior to its arrival.
Under the MFR license, Cartersville firefighters are authorized to perform advanced airway management, IV therapy, medication administration, and other life-saving treatments. These interventions can be initiated immediately upon arrival, improving patient care during cardiac arrest, traumatic injuries, respiratory emergencies, and other critical medical situations.
The MFR Service License represents a significant advancement for emergency medical response in Cartersville and Bartow County. By enabling advanced medical care during the initial moments of an emergency, CFD helps bridge the gap between first response and patient transport, providing faster and more comprehensive care for citizens and visitors.
The Cartersville Fire Department acknowledges the dedication of its personnel and the support of its medical director, community partners, Georgia Department of Public Health, and recognizes EMS Captain Travis Henderson for his leadership in obtaining the Medical First Responder Service License.
