Cartersville wasted no time jumping in front of Troup on Friday night running back Marcus Gary went 77 yards for a touchdown on the first play from scrimmage. One minute later the Cartersville defense got on the board with an Amari Orr interception returned for a touchdown to make the score 14-0 with 10:44 left in the first quarter. Troup responded with a drive that led to a 23-yard field goal to get on the board 14-3 with 6:08 left in the first quarter. Tee Webb found Devonte Ross for a long touchdown pass to make the score 21-3 with 1:38 left in the first quarter. Webb found tight end Jackson Lowe on a 4th down attempt with 8 minutes in the second quarter 28-3. That would be the score going into halftime.
Troup went down the field on their first possession of the second half and end up in the end zoneĀ 28-10 11:01 third quarter. Tee Webb added a touchdown with his legs to make the score 34-10 with 6 minutes remaining in the third quarter. The Cartersville defense added a safety before the end of the third quarter. Cartersville added another touchdown before the end of the game with a Marcus Gary touchdown run 43-10.
Cartersville captures the Region 5-4A title and will host Stephens County next week in the first round of the Class 4-A playoffs at 7:30.
