The Cartersville Purple Hurricanes (7-0, 3-0) continued their winning ways with a 52-7 win over LaGrange (2-5, 1-2) on Friday night.

Cartersville would score first on a 15-yard touchdown pass from Trevor Lawrence to Avery Showell to give Cartersville a 7-0 lead early. Lawrence, a quarterback noted mostly for his arm, showed off his legs in Friday night’s contest. Lawrence scored three rushing touchdowns, all in the first half, including a 42-yard scamper which showed off his agility.

Lawrence found Showell for another score and would find E.J. Turner for one more to give him three passing touchdowns and three rushing touchdowns in the victory. The only blemish on Lawerence’s night was an interception thrown in the third quarter.

The Cartersville defense did allow a rushing touchdown but also had an impressive goal line turnover in the third quarter.

Trey Creamer would add another score on a 49-yard screen pass to seal the game.

Cartersville will next travel to Sandy Creek (4-2, 1-1) next Friday for a big Class 4-A matchup at 7:30.
