In the regular February meeting of the Cartersville City Board of Education, the School Board recognized Kellie Ann Peppers Belcher for receiving her diploma by fulfilling all requirements to be certified as a Cartersville High School Graduate.
The Board also recognized Gladis Welch, Nurse at Cartersville High School, as the HEARTS Employee of the Month. Gladis received a $50.00 gift card to Appalachian Grill and her name will be added to our perpetual HEARTS plaque displayed at the Cartersville Board Office. New Frontier of Bartow County, Inc. proudly sponsors this award.
Principals gave updates and reports on each of their schools
During the Business Session, the Board approved Financial and Utility Reports.
Under Consent, the Board approved to modify the 2017-18 system calendar to use February 19 & 20 as student make-up days for days missed on January 8 & 17, 2018 due to inclement weather. Also approved was the System Strategic Plan as updated January 2018 as well as several surplus items and two tribunals.
During Committee Recommendations, under Finance, the School Board unanimously voted to approve the 2019 tuition rate stay the same. Current rate is $200 per family (for existing out of district students) if paid by June 30. After June 30, the rate is $300 per child.

The Board approved acceptance of the following resignations:
-Kerrie Rachel Davis, CHS School Nutrition, effective January 23, 2018.
-Laura McPherson, Speech Language Pathologist, effective end of 2017-18 school year.
-Darya Barnes, CPS Teacher, effective end of 2017-18 school year.
-Tracey Morris, School Nutrition Director, retirement, with regret, effective April 30, 2018.
-Pam Ragan, CPS Guidance Counselor, retirement, with regret, effective end of 2017-18 school year.
-Cathy Smith, CPS Teacher, retirement, with regret, effective end of 2017-18 school year.
-Russ Schmidt, CMS Teacher, retirement, with regret, effective end of 2017-18 school year.
