In the regular October meeting of the Cartersville City Board of Education, the School Board recognized Bonnie Hammett, as the HEARTS Employee of the Month. Bonnie received a $50.00 gift card to Appalachian Grill, and her name will be added to our perpetual HEARTS plaque displayed at the Cartersville Board Office. New Frontier of Bartow, Inc. proudly sponsors this award.
The principals gave updates and reports on each of their schools.
During the Business Session, the Board approved several bid proposals from the Superintendent for Cartersville Middle School. The first was from Camelot Charters for the band trip to Pigeon Forge, TN in the amount of $466.00 per student, lowest bid; the next proposal was from Georgia Center for Civic Engagement for the Tour of Washington, DC in the amount of $935.00 per student based upon 50 students, for a total cost of $46,750.00, lowest bid. Also approved was a bid proposal from Georgia Center for Civic Engagement for the Tour of Georgia trip priced at $780.00 per student, based upon 90 students for a total cost of $70,200, also lowest bid.
The Board also approved acceptance of a bid from Frazier Services Company, Inc., Atlanta, GA for the Cartersville Elementary School Building Automation System in the amount of $129,220.00, only bid received.
Under Consent, the Board approved an Overnight/Out-of-State Trip for the Cartersville High School Drama/Fine Arts Students to attend the Thespian Conference at Columbus State University in Columbus, GA February 7-9, 2019. Two rental requests were also approved: Edison Prep, Atlanta, GA to use a classroom at Cartersville High School for ACT Bootcamp, October 9, 2018; and Katie Vaughan to use the Cartersville Primary School Gym Saturday, February 2, 2019 for a Mother/Son Dance with proceeds going to BackPack Buddies and the Homeless Shelter.
Several Surplus items were also approved.
