ATLANTA – One lucky carpet mill worker was spot on with a Georgia Lottery instant ticket, winning a prize worth thousands. Sandra Brackett, 49, of Resaca played the instant game Impact Wrestling and won a $25,000 top prize.

Brackett, a mother of two, claimed her prize Tuesday at the Georgia Lottery District Office in Dalton.

ABC Convenience Store, 703 Oothcalooga St. in Calhoun, sold the winning ticket.

“I just stopped in the store and bought it,” Brackett said. “I almost had a heart attack when I scratched it in the car.”

With her husband, Timmy, Brackett plans to pay off bills with her winnings.

Since its first year, the Georgia Lottery Corp. has returned more than $14.6 billion to the state of Georgia for education. All Georgia Lottery profits go to pay for specific educational programs, including Georgia’s HOPE Scholarship Program and Georgia’s Pre-K Program. More than 1.6 million students have received HOPE, and more than 1.2 million 4-year-olds have attended the statewide, voluntary prekindergarten program.
