ATLANTA – A Canton father of three is excited to collect a significant prize from the Georgia Lottery. Amjad Malik, 45, is one of two players each to win $149,345 from the Jan. 20 Fantasy 5 drawing.

Ameri-Mart, 1153 Burnt Hickory Road S.E. in Cartersville, sold the winning Quik Pik ticket.  The second jackpot-winning ticket was sold in Sugar Hill.  Winning numbers from the Jan. 20 Fantasy 5 drawing were: 6-16-26-35-37.

“I’d gone back to the gas station to check the numbers,” Malik said. “I’m happy right now!”   The lucky winner and his wife, Yasmin, intend to help immediate family members financially.

Since its first year, the Georgia Lottery Corp. has returned more than $16 billion to the state of Georgia for education. All Georgia Lottery profits go to pay for specific educational programs, including Georgia’s HOPE Scholarship Program and Georgia’s Pre-K Program. More than 1.7 million students have received HOPE, and more than 1.3 million 4-year-olds have attended the statewide, voluntary prekindergarten program.
