The Cartersville Purple Hurricanes and the Sandy Creek Patriots waited until the 45th minute of the game Friday night before a point was scored. Luckily for Cartersville fans, it was the visiting team that escaped with a 7-0 region win.

Both teams struggled to move the ball offensively and turnovers didn’t help matters. Sandy Creek and Cartersville combined for six turnovers which came off four interceptions, a fumble, and a blocked field goal.

In the games 45th minute, Marcus Gary scored from 1-yard out to give Cartersville the win, but it was Amarai Orr’s interception in the end zone that sealed the game for Cartersville.

Cartersville is now 8-0 on the season and 4-0 in region play. The Canes will hit the road again next week to play Chapel Hill at 7:30. You can hear the game on WBHF with pregame coverage beginning at 6:00.
