The Adairsville Tigers (4-6, 2-4) fell to the Heritage Generals (7-3, 4-2) on Friday night 31-17.
The game began with Adairsville kicking off to Heritage. The Generals’ offense jogged on, but the drive fizzled fast. On second down, Heritage’s quarterback rolled right and fired—only for Adairsville’s Colton Sanford to step in front. Sanford snagged the ball at the Heritage 35, cut left, and didn’t stop until he crossed the goal line 65 yards later. A pick-six.
On Heritage’s third possession, Brayden Slaughter took the handoff, found a crease off left tackle, and sprinted 15 yards untouched into the end zone. Jake Collett’s PAT tied it at 7–7 with three minutes left in the first.
In the second quarter, Heritage started at its own 14-yard line. At the Adairsville 9-yard line, Slaughter scampered in for his second score, giving the Generals their first lead of the game. Adairsville, answered right back. Sanford ripped off a long run to the Heritage 35, setting up a red-zone trip. Jackson Jarrett punched it in from three yards out to tie the game. Heritage struck lightning on the next possession. Caden Hight launched a spiral down the seam, where Brayden Stoker hauled it in stride at the 8. Two plays later, Collett trotted out and split the uprights from 26 yards to once again regain the lead at 17-14 before the half.
The second half began with Heritage kicking off. Adairsville managed one first down before punting. The Generals took over at their 35 and wasted no time. On first down, Slaughter burst through the line, cut outside, and raced 33 yards to the house. Adairsville attempted an answer with a long completion from Braxton Elrod to Barrett Fuller, reaching the Heritage 36. But a fumble later in the drive was scooped up by Cody Bryan, with Adairsville marching in the red zone.
In the fourth quarter, Adairsville need some big plays to get back in the game down 10. Elrod again found Fuller for a big gain, this time to the Heritage 15. The drive stalled, and Cooper Souders knocked through a 23-yard field goal. 24–17. Adairsville tried an onside kick, but Eli Thacker fell on it at the Heritage 42. Heritage missed field goal gave Adairsville life at their 20 with just over a minute left. Elrod dropped back, fired toward the sideline but it was intercepted by Aaron Cicili at the Adairsville 5. One play later, Slaughter bulled in from four yards out to put the finishing touches on the Generals’ win.
Adairsville closes out its season with a 4-6 record including 2-4 in region play. With the loss, the Tigers fell out of the playoff picture for 2025. Adairsville returns strong production from its young roster for 2026.
