Cartersville November, 11th, 2025 — American Legion Post 42 (Carl Boyd) will host our
annual Veteran’s Day Ceremony at 11am on Tuesday, 11 November 2025 at 525
Martin Luther King Drive (American Legion Grounds) in Cartersville, GA. This
ceremony will honor all Veteran’s that served in the U.S. Army, Navy, Air Force,
Marines, Space Force, and Coast Guard. The ceremony starts promptly at 11am, so
arrive early to get the best seats. This ceremony culminates a week of commemorative
events that includes placing American flags on Veteran gravesites at Oak Hill and
Sunset Memorial Garden cemeteries on Saturday, 1 November, Woodland Middle
Schools Veteran’s Recognition Ceremony on Friday, 7 November, a Veteran’s
Breakfast on Saturday, 8 November, and the awarding of two Commander’s
Scholarships.
The week starts with the placing of American flags on Veteran’s graves at local
cemeteries. Please join the Sons of the American Legion Post #42 on Saturday 1
November, 2025 at 10am to place flags on the Graves of our Soldiers for Veterans
Day. Everyone is welcome! Meet at Oak Hill Cemetery and look for the American
Legion bus.
The Veteran’s ceremony will consist of a Rifle salute and Taps performed by the
American Legion Honor Guard, playing of Service songs and recognition of service
members, performances by the Cass JROTC and Cartersville Band and Chorus, Guest
speakers, Commander’s Scholarship awards (more information attached), and last but
not least, a Military Vehicle Parade. We are very excited to add to this year’s event, the
Military Vehicle Parade to be held on the Post fairgrounds in honor of the 250th
anniversary of the Army and Marine Corps. Following the ceremony, we’ll also conduct
a short tour of the American Legion Home and the American Legion Auxiliary will serve
refreshments.
We look forward to a great event and a special time to honor our fallen heroes. We are
truly blessed to live in a city so Veteran-friendly and supportive.
