Next month, the Bartow County Planning Commission will consider a proposal unlike most others in Bartow County.  A Development of Regional Impact has been submitted for a 2,900-unit mixed-use development off Woodall Road near Cherokee County.  The project is entitled Grand Etowah Bartow, and the applicant is Grand Etowah Partners.  This development would be built on 730 acres, with an investment of more than $2.4 billion dollars.

Water demand is estimated at a million gallons per day and would be provided by Bartow County and the Cherokee Water Authority.  Wastewater treatment would be provided by TSG Water Resources of Gainesville, Florida.  Other considerations include entrances to the development.

Tax revenue is estimated at $7.8 million dollars annually.  The applicant is requesting that the zoning change from agricultural to PUD or mixed-use development.  The Planning Commission Meeting is scheduled for July 28th.
