On Thursday April 30, 2015, the Alzheimer’s Association® Georgia Chapter will host the annual Alzheimer’s Association Caregiver Conference in partnership with the Aging and Disability Resource Connection. The conference is presented by the Elder Law Practice of David L. McGuffey. The event will be held at the Clarence Brown Conference Center in Cartersville, GA. The conference is free to immediate family caregivers. There is a cost for professionals, students, and all other attendees.

The keynote speakers for this year’s Caregiver Conference are Teepa Snow, MS, OTR/L, FAOTA, and Liza Reed, MS, LMFT. Teepa is a dynamic speaker and one of America’s leading educators on dementia. She has made it her personal mission to help families and professionals better understand how it feels to live with the challenges faced by those living with dementia. Liza is a licensed marriage and family therapist. She has a practice in the Atlanta area. Liza was previously seen as the featured psychotherapist on TLC’s Hoarding: Buried Alive.

The Caregiver Conference will include an exhibit area for interaction with various care providers as well as afternoon breakout sessions to assist in specific areas of need. Family and professional caregivers, volunteers, clergy, students, community providers, public safety personnel, and the community are encouraged to attend. Respite is offered at RossWoods Adult Day Services in Dalton. Transportation to the event is offered from Riverwood Senior Living in Rome, The Rosewood in Fort Oglethorpe, and Tranquility of Dalton.
