Justice Robert Benham of the Georgia Supreme Court and Sheri Henshaw with Keep Bartow Beautiful will be at the Bartow History Museum on Thursday night March 30th at seven o’clock to share information on the proposed African American Heritage Trail in Bartow County.

Currently there are ten proposed sites including George Washington Carver Park, Euharlee Covered Bridge, and St. James A.M.E. Church to name a few.

Benham proposed the trail as an outgrowth of work to preserve the history of George Washington Carver State Park. The stops along the trail would cover themes such as Bartow County’s African American communities, education for minorities, and African American business and industry.

The trail would allow the opportunity to further share Bartow County’s African American history with locals but also visitors to the area. In addition, it could aid in the preservation of endangered sites.

This lecture is free for members of the museum and included in the price of admission to the museum for non-members. For more information, the website is bartowhistorymuseum.org and the phone number is 770-382-3818.
