The Adairsville Tigers looked to build off their first win of 2019 and grab a region win in the process on Friday night and did just that. Adairsville defeated Coahulla Creek 35-0 to improve to 2-1 on the season and 1-0 in region play.

The lopsided affair started off with both teams tied for most of the first quarter, but that changed quickly. Connor Crunkleton found Derrick Simmons for a 38-yard touchdown pass with just 57 seconds left in the first quarter.

The second quarter would see more Adairsville scoring one could argue that the defense deserved the credit. Ja’Mauri Johnson scored on a 2-yard touchdown run, which was set up by a Malachi Gardner fumble recovery on defense. On the next Coahulla Creek drive, Courtney Slocum grabbed the pass and took it 29 yards into the end zone for an interception return. The half would end with the Tigers up 21-0.

On Adairsville’s first drive of the third quarter, Crunkleton found Tayshawn Savage from 71 yards out for a touchdown and stretch the Adairsville lead to 28-0. Slocum continued his excellent game with his second pick-6 of the contest with 4:22 left in the third quarter to give the Tigers a 35-0 lead.

Adairsville will host Haralson County next Friday at 7:30. You can hear that game on bartowsportszone.com as the Johnny’s New York Style Pizza Bartow County Game of the Week.
