The Adairsville Tigers (1-1) lost to the Rabun County Wildcats by a score of 72-36 on Friday.

Rabun County received the opening kickoff, and they got to work quickly, getting inside the red zone in just a few plays before scoring a 20-yard touchdown pass to go up 7-0 early in the first quarter. Adairsville had a rough first possession, as the Tigers were forced to punt after just three downs. Rabun County took advantage of the forced three and out, scoring in just two plays on a long passing touchdown to go up 14-0 with around eight minutes remaining in the opening quarter.

The Tigers failed to score once again, and after getting the ball back, the Wildcats recorded their third passing touchdown of the game to go up 21-0 with around five minutes left in the first
quarter. Adairsville finally put points on the board near the end of the 1st quarter as Chris Roper recorded a 53-yard touchdown catch to make the score 21-7. Rabun County wasn’t done scoring, though, and the Wildcats responded with a 32-yard passing touchdown to go up 28-7 with a few minutes remaining in the first quarter.

Adairsville wasn’t done putting up points either, and Caden Copeland scored on a sweep to make the score 28-14 at the end of the first quarter.

The Wildcats began the second quarter with a bang, recording their fifth passing touchdown of the game to go up 35-14 with 9:24 remaining in the first half. They followed that up with a 38-yard rushing touchdown to go up 42-14 with 6:46 remaining in the second quarter. Adairsville responded with less than a minute to go before halftime as Chris Roper recorded a
rushing touchdown to make the score 42-21.

However, the quarter wasn’t over, and the Wildcats recorded a passing touchdown right before halftime to go up 49-21 at the break. Adairsville had the first possession of the third quarter, and they got started on the right foot as Chris Roper scored a 67-yard rushing touchdown to make the score 49-28 early in the third quarter.

The Wildcats continued to answer every Tigers score by throwing a short passing touchdown to go up 55-28 with 10:56 remaining in the third quarter. They missed the PAT, keeping them at 55
points. They extended their lead with around six minutes remaining in the third quarter, scoring a 48-yard passing touchdown to go up 62-28. Even with their lead extending past thirty points, the Wildcats continued to put points on the board as they scored a 1-yard rushing touchdown to go up 69-28 with around two minutes remaining in the third quarter.

There wasn’t much action in the fourth quarter, but the Wildcats did kick a 38-yard field goal to go up 72-28 early in the fourth quarter. Adairsville also scored as Ethan Blome recorded a long rushing touchdown, and the Tigers converted a two-point conversion to make the score 72-36 with under four minutes remaining in the contest.
